UEFA Launches Together Program to Boost Global Football Development

UEFA has launched the UEFA Together program to foster global football development through collaborations with sister confederations over the next three years. Key focus areas include women’s football in Asia and Africa, promoting club licensing and coaching in Concacaf, leadership roles for women in South America, and high-performance management in Oceania. The initiative aims for sustainable growth and equitable opportunities in global football.

UEFA has launched a new initiative named UEFA Together, aimed at enhancing global football development through partnerships with its sister confederations. The three-year program intends to create significant projects in collaboration with the five continental confederations, addressing specific developmental priorities identified within each region.

The program will initiate a partnership with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to improve women’s football development across Asia. Resources and programs will be invested in creating equal opportunities for women and girls to engage in and excel in the sport.

In Africa, UEFA will work with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to strengthen youth development pathways specifically for girls. This collaboration aims to nurture talent and build essential infrastructure to support the sustainable growth of women’s football in the region.

Another partnership with Concacaf will focus on enhancing club licensing systems and improving coach education, contributing to the professionalization of football and raising standards across the region.

In South America, the partnership with the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) will prioritize increasing women’s leadership roles and improving child safeguarding measures, fostering inclusivity, equity, and safety in football governance and youth development.

Finally, in Oceania, UEFA will collaborate with the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) to elevate high-performance management at the association level and to establish dedicated youth tournaments, thus emphasizing youth engagement in football.

UEFA General Secretary Theodore Theodoridis emphasized that UEFA Together signifies a new era of collaboration with sister confederations and member associations, ensuring impactful and lasting benefits for global football. This initiative represents UEFA’s commitment to supporting football development beyond European borders, addressing challenges hindering the sport’s growth worldwide and promoting equitable opportunities.
