Kyndryl has officially launched a new technology hub in Liverpool, aimed at advancing digital transformation for both UK and global clients. This initiative is expected to create up to 1,000 jobs in software engineering and AI-related fields within three years, reinforcing Kyndryl’s commitment to driving technology innovation in the region.
The hub will be managed by Kyndryl Consult and will feature a Kyndryl Vital Studio designed for collaborative problem-solving. Clients will work alongside designers within the studio to address complex business challenges while the advisory team assists in implementing AI and emerging technologies.
As part of this development, Kyndryl will enhance its partnership with The Very Group, focusing on improving the retailer’s end-to-end digital capabilities through a multiyear agreement. This collaboration aims to bolster The Very Group’s product offerings and enhance the overall digital customer experience.
Kyndryl’s decision to invest in Liverpool originates from the city’s growing reputation as a center for digital innovation, as highlighted during last year’s International AI Summit. By expanding its presence, Kyndryl aims to nurture local talent and accelerate AI adoption, contributing significantly to economic growth across the UK.
The Mayor of the Liverpool City Region commended this move as a prime example of local ambition supported by national investment. He emphasized the importance of positioning Liverpool as a leader in the digital transformation landscape, ensuring access to skilled jobs and future economic resilience.
Kyndryl is committed to developing the next generation of digital leaders through its early careers program, which includes digital technology degree apprenticeships. This effort aligns with the rising demand for skilled professionals in the digital sector, necessary for maintaining leadership in innovation and AI.
The new technology hub will leverage Kyndryl’s expertise in integrating essential operations with business applications, enhancing companies’ capabilities in digital and AI transformations. This investment not only stimulates innovation but also underscores Kyndryl’s objective of contributing to the UK’s strategic AI Opportunities Action Plan and fostering economic growth.
