Vietnamese Star Midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai Poised for European Move

Nguyen Quang Hai is recognized as one of Vietnam’s top football players, noted for his outstanding performances since 2018 in major tournaments. Fox Sports editor Gabriel Tan highlighted him as a key player poised for a move to Europe. Hai has drawn interest from several clubs, with potential trials at Deportivo Alaves, while fellow Vietnamese player Doan Van Hau is also being sought after by Borussia Monchengladbach.

Nguyen Quang Hai, a standout midfielder from Vietnam, has gained recognition as one of the top players in the nation’s football scene. His remarkable performances since 2018, particularly in major tournaments with both the U23 and national teams, have drawn attention. Gabriel Tan, a Fox Sports editor, describes Hai as “the hottest property in Southeast Asia football” due to his consistent excellence.

Over the last 15 months, Hai has played a pivotal role in Vietnam’s football achievements. Highlights of his contributions include helping the U23 team reach the AFC Championship final and playing a key part in the Golden Stars’ success in the AFF Suzuki Cup, their quarter-finals finish at the AFC Asian Cup 2019, and a fourth-place result at last year’s Asian Games.

In a recent analysis, Tan included Hai among six Asian footballers likely to move to Europe during the forthcoming summer transfer window. Despite interest from various Asian clubs, Hanoi FC is hesitant to transfer him. However, the situation may change if a compelling offer arrives from a European club, according to Tan.

Other notable players mentioned alongside Hai include Japan’s Takefusa Kubo, currently with Real Madrid, Iranian keeper Alireza Beiranvand, previous World Cup participant, Thai player Chanathip Songkrasin, Qatar’s Almoez Ali, and South Korean Jo Hyeon-woo.

Earlier this year, Deportivo Alaves from La Liga expressed interest in having Hai trial for the 2019-2020 season. In addition, another Vietnamese player, Doan Van Hau, has also attracted attention from Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga, marking an exciting time for Vietnamese talent on the international stage.
