DFB Extends Collaboration with AFC to Enhance Football Development in Asia
The German Football Association (DFB) is extending its cooperation with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for four more years. This agreement focuses on enhancing professional football development in Asia through sharing expertise in coaching, governance, and integrity. DFB President Reinhard Grindel and AFC President Shaikh Salman highlighted the importance of this partnership for football in both regions.
The German Football Association (DFB) has announced plans to renew its collaboration with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the next four years, aiming to enhance the development of professional football across Asia. This partnership will build upon a previous agreement from 2013, facilitating exchanges focused on management practices, coaching, mentoring, grassroots initiatives, and the integration of technology within football.
By leveraging its two decades of expertise in transforming German football into a successful model, the DFB seeks to provide valuable insights to the AFC. This will help strengthen the AFC’s capabilities regarding technical development, governance standards, and the integrity of the sport.
DFB President Reinhard Grindel expressed enthusiasm for this renewed cooperation, stating, “The DFB is happy to work with the AFC to benefit the sport of football throughout Europe and Asia.” He emphasized the significance of education for coaches and efforts to combat match-fixing as focal points of their collaboration.
AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa acknowledged the importance of this partnership, remarking, “We are grateful for DFB’s significant contribution to develop our game — both on and off the field. This MoU is an important building block for us to reach our objectives under the AFC vision and mission.”
