Brazilian forward Neymar has signed with Al-Hilal from PSG for around 90 million euros, confirmed by the Saudi club. Neymar, a key player for PSG since 2017, scored 118 goals and won multiple titles. PSG president honored him as a club legend. Al-Hilal, known for its extensive trophy collection, is keen on strengthening its squad as part of a broader investment initiative in Saudi football.
Neymar, the Brazilian forward, has officially signed with Saudi football club Al-Hilal after leaving Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), as confirmed by the Saudi Professional League (SPL) on Tuesday. The transfer fee is reported to be around 90 million euros (approximately $98.24 million), which includes additional performance-related bonuses and is contingent on passing a medical examination for the 31-year-old.
Having joined PSG in 2017 from Barcelona for a then-world record fee of 222 million euros, Neymar made a significant impact at the Paris club, netting 118 goals in 173 appearances. His tenure at PSG was decorated with numerous trophies, including five Ligue 1 titles. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi expressed his gratitude, calling Neymar a club legend and recalling the extraordinary moments shared.
Al-Hilal has demonstrated ambition in recent transfers, also targeting Neymar’s former teammates, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi. However, Messi chose Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami instead of joining the Saudi club. Al-Hilal is historically the most successful club in Saudi Arabia and Asia, boasting 66 trophies and holding records for league and Asian Champions League titles with 18 and four, respectively.
The Riyadh-based club aims to bolster its squad following a strategic investment and privatization project announced in June by the Saudi Public Investment Fund. This initiative involves other top clubs including Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli, and Al-Nassr, aiming to raise the competitive standards of Saudi football.
